Swag bags, fashion & champagne summed up my night ... and many others, at the recent Fashion Night Out in Georgetown.

Fashion Night Out
By Chloe Thompson
It’s a shopaholic’s dream: A night devoted completely to Fashion. More than 80 retailers participated in the festivities of celebrating the well dressed at the first-ever D.C. Fashion Night Out held in (where else?) Georgetown. Of course, I couldn’t be everywhere, but I did venture to a few great places to sneak peeks at the fun.

The night kicked off with a VIP party at Roche Salon. I snapped a few shots of models while they struck poses on the red carpet and paraded among the guests within the salon. The salon itself was decked out, using the sinks for clients to house bottles of champagne, vino and vitamin water to quench everyone’s thirst.
(Hey, shopping takes a lot out of you, right?)

Though they might not be too fashionable, I did enjoy the OVO performers, who taught several laughing audience members how to do the bug dance and swarmed around during FNO to grab curious onlookers for impromptu dance parties.
One of my favorite parts of the evening had nothing to do with fashion or shopping—it was the pedicabs that brought you from destination to destination to save tired feet from stilettos (but yes, I brought along my Fast Flats to soothe my aching tootsies). Serious props to these workers for braving the hills of Georgetown!

Of course I can’t forget the TD Bank Fashion Show, which showed off wares from Urban Chic, adorable heels from Sassanova and more fashion from Marzee and Hugo Boss (plus others). The night was a great mix of style and substance, as so many of the events donated toward charitable causes. I was told after the event, tote bags were sold for $10 to aid local charity, Labels for Love. Here’s a few (OK, maybe more than a few) of my favorite models from the night, including a shot of wounded soldiers from Cause and the events’
coordinators. The soldiers did indeed look pretty dapper in Hugo Boss.

A few ladies I was with bought great baubles from Charm, and I had the chance to chat a bit more with MIJA’s designer, Michelle Guest, whose collection I previewed for an earlier blog post. She poses with the latest from her collection here.
Needless to say, the night went by a little too quick. By the time the shopping bug had really hit, it was 11 p.m., (almost) everyone had shut their doors, and it was time to head to our next destination, left with great memories, loaded with swag and more than a wish that D.C. ups its ante as a sweet fashion spot.
