Holiday Shopping Guide: Last-Minute Stocking Stuffers
By Chloe Thompson
Guys, I’m here to offer you a big assist with the woman in your life. Slide any of these picks from LUSH in her stocking, and the tidings of joy will resonate profoundly. Translation: She’ll love the gesture.
What I love about LUSH is the innovative products, from bath bombs to can’t-live-without soap chunks (including one that smells like a beautiful vanilla latte from Starbucks). The green-friendly perspective is shown throughout the store, with many of the products as vegan and decidedly eco-friendly, and in the few I’ve visited, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. My picks:
The mini-Glogg limited-edition mulled wine shower gel limits packing to one great-smelling product to be used from head to toe. LUSH is known for its innovative products and green-friendly perspective (this gel is indeed vegan). The notes of cinnamon and cloves are perfect for warming up on chilly nights, while lemon juice and lime oil give a much-needed zing during morning showers.
($9.95 for 3.3 ounces and up)
Also on my list? Holiday inspired Pow Wow Lip Scrub ($8.95), which vaguely reminds me of pop rocks. The strong minty scent lingers even after you’ve washed the scrub off, meant to buff and polish lips to smooth perfection, even with dry winter skin as the temperatures cool. Add the lip tints (key image, $6.95 each) to the mix—the chilli tingle looks intense, but I promise it goes on light, or consider the snow fairy for a pinker hue.
Finally, I keep one at my desk and have gotten several compliments on my new favorite solid perfume—orange blossom. It has light floral notes, but instead of overpowering the way I find many flowery scents do, this one deepens into a woodsy, citrus-tinged fragrance. The perfume is a bargain (just $10), and I throw it in my carryon to roll on after I’ve deplaned. The solid perfumes come in several different scents, but this was by far my favorite after rigorous testing (read: standing in the store for more than an hour with my sister trying to find new pulse points for each scent).
LUSH; 3066 M St., NW (coming soon to Pentagon Centre in Arlington).
