The Perfect Travel Shoe?
By Chloe Thompson
It’s a familiar situation: You’ve just purchased killer heels, and you’re eager to show them off. You think, “Oh, I’ll just break them in—I can last.”
Unfortunately, this happens to be the day you wind up walking miles in the city, or trekking through the airport to find your gate or meeting your pals for an impromptu adult beverage.
When it’s all over, your pain overrides your passion for fine footwear. What do you do, walk around barefoot? (Ew.) Stash $2 Old Navy flip-flops in your oversized bag? (Guilty.)
No—you grab a pair of my latest must-have: Fast Flats ($9.99).
I tried on a pair for the first time this past week, and my feet are still thanking me. True to the Dr. Scholl’s brand, these are incredibly comfy, and a great fix to tired feet.
They definitely won’t replace your ordinary shoes—the key to their flexibility (easily shoved into the included wristlet, or your own small handbag) is that they are incredibly thin. However, they’re perfect as a quick solution, and offer better style than rubber flip-flops, enabling you to only need one emergency pair for all painful scenarios. The shoes come in standard sizing from 5–10, and for now it looks like it just comes in black. Hopefully the line will expand, because I would pick up a few colors for my stash.
The bottom line? Great for airports, long nights out and an exhausting work day. Bad for construction sites or walking on nails in particular.
Basically, there’s not a bad thing about them—and you can grab ‘em at your local pharmacy, along with your other essentials.

» Add your commentI'm not a fan of these fast flats, mostly because I think they're wasteful. I can only imagine the number of people who will buy these, wear them once, and then forget about them. All that manufacturing for no good, I say.
I much prefer buying quality shoes from brands I know and trust. I break them in around the office before wearing them out on the town. And, if I'm really worried about being able to walk comfortably at the end of the night, I go out in flats. No one ever said you had to be six feet tall to be sexy!

Hi @Lisatella
Surprisingly, everyone I know that uses them stows them either in their desk or in their purse. I've brought mine out to several occasions. Strappy, open-toed heels look slightly out of place in my office, so unless I trot around my (carpeted) apartment for hours on end, it takes me awhile to truly break in a good pair of heels. But hey, to each her own! Interested to find out what your favorite brand of real flats are.
