Shopping for Cherry Blossoms
By Chloe Thompson
In case you need a new way to enjoy the Cherry Blossoms besides, well, looking at them, participating in all the fun events or trying any of the cherry restaurant picks (we listed some here), I’ve got one more: Shop till you drop.
Georgetown—probably D.C.’s best shopping spot, celebrates all things cherry blossoms with fabulous sales and specials (in store only). Here are some of my picks.
Stop by United Colors of Benetton for classics such as flowy off-white tanks, cargo shorts and bright, flowery cotton scarves. A good selection of white dresses (I like the muslin embroidered, right), remind you that yes, summer is on the way. The store is doing a special “Buy More, Save More “ sale—net 10 percent off with one item and 20 percent with two. (photo cred: Benneton Catalog)

OK, truth be told, I’m a Coach girl, but Kate Spade is a more grown up version of one of my favorite accessory labels, and the store is perfect for Cherry Blossom Festival goers (a bright bag, like this nylon Maryanne, left, brings out the spring fever in all of us). From April 8 through 10 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., shoppers can bring in either a wristband or ticket stub from any CB event and get 15 percent off their entire purchase. Win.

In case you haven’t heard, thank-you notes are a must—and it’s even better when it comes on pretty paper. The Paper Source is supporting Japan relief efforts during the Festival with its beautiful Japanese Cherry Blossom papers and donating 10 percent of any Japanese paper sales to the Red Cross. (Psst, you can shop online, too.)
