New Exclusive Style Den Opens in Lost Boys
Trendsetting men, take heed: a members-only styling studio is (almost) open for business in Georgetown.
By Claire H. Goldman
Already known for her ability to revamp men from duds to dapper gents, Lost Boys creator Kelly Muccio is set to take her men’s personal style initiative to another level with The Black Room, the nation’s first invitation-only private style studio.
And, naturally, it’s opening on Black Friday, the nation’s most notorious shopping day of the year. The style initiative is the new way for the three-year-old boutique to create a more personalized approach for its clients.
Perks include a showroom stocked with “special pieces exclusive to The Black Room that you can’t find anywhere else in the country,” says Muccio. She will stop at nothing to ensure her A-list shoppers get everything they need to complete the “cohesive head-to-toe” styling she is famous for. Muccio tells me she has had “wardrobes shipped abroad” for her world-class clientele, which include not only local celebs and politicians but national A-listers, too. (And yes, we asked who, but Muccio was tight-lipped about her celeb pals.)
Once on the list, Muccio will hand select items tailored to your size and style needs. Just stepped off the plane with nothing to wear? Picture, if you will, no-fuss shopping in a studio where everything is your size and exactly what you are looking for, and you have the undivided attention of the owner. The Black Room will also host a series of events with renowned mixologists and chefs, and guests are limited to a strict members-only policy.
How does one get “Black Listed”? It’s simple, really: Head to lostboysdc.com, and enter your name and email. There is a form to fill out and submit. Those who make Kelly’s elite cut will be “Black Mailed.”
Jealous, ladies? Have no fear, Muccio assures the Flyer that this won’t remain an all boys club for long. She hopes to open up her style expertise services to the fairer sex in the near future.
For more information, go to the store's website, or stop by the shop in Georgetown at 1033 31st St. NW.
