Need a soundtrack for your upcoming travels? We love Haley’s music and her travel-the-world philosophy. Plus, she was born in D.C.
Beautiful voice. Check. Amazing songwriting. Check. Peripatetic mindset. Oh, yeah. This is Haley Sales, a woman whose voice is so gloriously attuned to enjoying the passage of time we have to listen—a lot.
She was born in D.C., raised in Portland and Vancouver Island, British Columbia (on a blueberry farm, no less). Haley's parents were hippies and music producers. In fact, her father once owned a recording studio in D.C.
The artist has been touring constantly, and she recently made a stop at Jammin' Java, one of our favorite venues in the area, for a show. We were lucky enough to have her come downtown and chat with us in Lafayette Park, guitar in hand.
Again, that voice. So good—watch and listen.

Not only are Washington Flyer's readers well traveled, but they also have lots of photography talent! We recently received scores of images from our readers during the Summer Photo Contest, a partnership with Visit Florida and Sunny.org. Some of our favorites are here...
