Cool drinks, steamy rooftops—must be a sweet summer of hotel options in Washington.

No matter the temps, the rooftop at the Liaison Capitol Hill (affinia.com) is one of the best spots in town. You’ll love the pool, cabanas, DJ and food from Art and Soul. Early birds: Don’t miss rooftop yoga at 7:30 a.m. Mats, bottled water and towels provided, reservations required.

If you haven’t seen the fireworks display from the roof of the Hay-Adams (hayadams.com), you haven’t really celebrated the Fourth. Check out the hotel’s holiday package, which includes accommodations the night of July 4; a three-course dinner with wine and open bar; and access to the Top of The Hay for fireworks viewing, open bar and desserts. Rates begin at $1,070.

Brabo Tasting Room at the Kimpton’s Lorien Hotel & Spa (lorienhotelandspa.com) in Alexandria hosts Toast on the Terrace every Thursday until fall. Bottomless sangria and heavy hors d’oeuvres! From 6−8 p.m., $40 per person.

First Ladies and Food

st. regisLadies first! at The St. Regis (starwoodhotels.com/stregis). The hotel’s First Ladies: American Style in the White House package, in conjunction with the “First Ladies at the Smithsonian” exhibit, offers accommodations in the hotel’s Caroline Astor Suite; complimentary cocktails; in-room breakfast (perhaps Lady Bird Johnson’s beef tenderloin and eggs or Laura Bush’s carrot muffins?); and a private tour of the exhibit (including Michelle Obama’s fabulous white Jason Wu inaugural gown). A portion of the proceeds from the booking will be donated to the National Museum of American History. Available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through 2011, $509 per night.

Capital Comfort at the Mandarin Oriental Washington, D.C. (mandarinoriental.com): Perfect for a summer getaway, this package includes accommodations (two-night minimum); two tickets to either the Spy Museum or Newseum; a $50 credit for the hotel’s restaurant Sou’Wester, Empress Lounge or in-room dining; 20 percent off selected spa services (weekdays only); and overnight parking. Rates start at $295 until Sept. 5.
