Romance at the Willard Hotel

If you’re planning ahead for the requisite flurry of red-rose, chocolate-high obligations in February, the Willard Intercontinental offers its Heart to Heart package for $379, including one night’s stay for two, breakfast in bed, Champagne, chocolate-dipped strawberries and valet parking. The romance package—yes, guys, we think she’ll like this—must be booked seven days in advance.

And if you’ve landed yourself in the proverbial doghouse and have more money to spend, the Willard offers its Capital Night of Romance package year-round. The price tag: $2,400. All right, pick yourself off the floor and check out the features: accommodations in the Jenny Lind suite (pictured), breakfast for two in bed, Champagne, chocolate-dipped cherries, the so-called “romantic turndown” with CD (hmm) and bath amenities.

The suite must be pretty, well, sweet, right? It is. It sits below the hotel’s steep mansard roof—a hideaway, if you will—and features a series of multi-level rooms capped off with a bedroom boasting a canopy bed, view of the Washington Monument and a giant Jacuzzi tub…which also offers amazing views of the Mall from a circular casement window.
