2010 Travel Photo Contest

We’d love to see the amazing images of your 2010 travels! We know you have them...probably as screensavers on your computer, or perhaps they’re still locked away on your digital camera’s memory card.

No worries. Put a few together and send them our way, because it could lead to a weekend for two at one of our favorite venues in town, Hotel Monaco DC.

The winner will enjoy a complimentary weekend stay in an oversized "Monte Carlo" guest room (20-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows). Also, enjoy the hotel's Kimpton Wine Hour each afternoon.

The guidelines:

Via email, submit up to three images by December 31, 2010 to Washington Flyer’s editor in chief, Michael McCarthy, at mmccarthy@tmgcustommedia.com. If you want to go old school and mail them, sure. Please mail images to Washington Flyer Magazine, ATTN: Travel Photo Contest, 1707 L St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20036. (Please make sure your package is postmarked by December 31, 2010, and, sorry, we can’t return the images unless you provide an envelope with the appropriate postage attached.)

What we’re looking for:

People (children, adults), animals, portraits, landscapes, action, inaction—well, nearly everything. And like any great image, we look for composition, depth, texture and style. But the variables that will complement those elements include a sense of discovery and whim.

When we’ll make the decision:

We’ll kick off the New Year with a selection, and we will let the winner know the first week of January.

Other prizes:

We will provide dinner for two (excluding tip) for our second-place at Washington's Taberna del Alabardero. We’ll also list honorable mentions in our Travel Photo Gallery online.
