We recently visited the so-called darling of Asia, Singapore. The island-state has many riches, not the least of which is its national orchid garden, the largest collection in the world.

Not only do our readers travel the planet to discover the richness of diverse people and places, but they're pretty darn talented with their cameras, too. We received hundreds of images for our winter contest, and here are some of our favorites. Stay tuned for our spring showdown, which will offer more great prizes.

Nell Whiting, Washington Flyer's photo editor, recently traveled to Thailand to experience the country's beaches, cities, temples, waterways, markets and more.
